Simulation Technology Approved at KTH
The Committee of Education at KTH on June 17 approved the proposal for a Bachelors program in Simulation Technology by the School of Computer Science and Communication based on Body&Soul/FEniCS. See my blog of June 5.
The Mathematics Department heavily opposed the new program, but was overrun by the Committee.
The decision by the Committee signifies a shift of balance towards a new paradigm of mathematics, science and technology based on computation, presented in my knols on Mathematics/Science Education, which will change both content and form of engineering education.
The long march and struggle towards reform has eventually given result and the monopoly on mathematics education given to the traditional mathematics department is no longer guaranteed by the system...What will replace the monopoly? A free market of math education?
